Lin Yong 林墉

  • born in 1942, is a native of Chaozhou, Guangdong Province. He is now deputy chairman of the Chinese Artists Association, committee member of the Chinese Painting Research institute, chairman of the Guangdong Artists Association, deputy director of the Guangdong Painting College and director of the Chinese Culture and Arts Research Center at Jinan University.


    Lin was graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the Guangzhou Art Institute. He specializes in portraits, flower-and-bird as well as art theory and illustrations. His works are noted for their freshness and grace of the Southern style. The composition of his paintings is full of variety; his use of brushstrokes is accurate and forceful, which is an indication of his solid mastery of basic craftsmanship and artistic cultivation.


    A number of his paintings and literary collections in recent years have been published; he has also held a lot of exhibitions and lectures in China and overseas. Between 1978 and 1983, he visited Pakistan for three times and held touring exhibitions there. He was awarded the Medal of Excellence by the Pakistan President. A number of his works have been collected by Chinese Art Museum, Chinese Painting Research Institute, Guangzhou Art Museum and Shenzhen Museum.
