Summer Lotus - Exhibition of Painting 夏日荷作品展
(Hong Kong, Aug 2014) Wan Fung Art Gallery proudly presents, “Summer Lotus” Group Exhibition of Paintings feature about 40 pieces of lotus paintings. Cocktail reception will start at 3 pm, on 14th Aug (Thu).
Quoted from a famous Hunan artist ZOU Chuanan, “最愛荷塘雨過時，流霧回風碰落珠。層層青蓋張新綠，透水芙蓉瓣半舒” which is a poet describing the amazing scene at lotus pond after rain. From time to time, Chinese scholars always show great interests in lotus. Summer is the blooming season for lotus. Although lotus roots silt from the bottom of the Ponds, its leaves and flowers stand still in an elegant shape above the water level. That is why a Chinese saying tells “蓮花出淤泥而不染”, which is a metaphor of lotus as “Keep your nose clean”.
This summer, Wan Fung is going to show you around 40 lotus-themed paintings by different media from 30 artists, including ZOU Chuanan and ZHOU Zhongyao from Hunan, LAM Wu Fui and WO Henry from Hong Kong, DONG Xianzhou from Liaoning. One lotus will have different art forms and emotions
