Xu Xi 徐希
薛 亮 Male, born in 1940, is a native of Shaoxing County, Zhejiang Province. He is a member of the Chinese Artists Association. From 1956 to 1965, he studied at the Beijing Academy of Fine Arts. After graduation, he became an art editor for the Beijing Art Press. He has worked on charcoal sketching, caricatures and prints and is best known for his ink-and-wash landscape paintings. His works always leave an impression of distinctive, refreshing quality on the viewers and depict a sense of time, place and life. He is especially good at capturing the natural beauty of South China with simple brushstrokes. Several years ago, he has migrated to the United States and his painting subjects include scenery all over the world.From 1981 to 2007, about twenty art albums were published in Hong Kong, Japan, Sichuan, Singapore, Taipei, Gao Xiong and Beijing. He also held solo exhibitions in Beijing, Tokyo, New York, Taipei, Vienna, Hong Kong, Singapore, Osaka, Gao Xiong, Philadelphia, totaling over 20 exhibitions. Ten of his works are collected by the Chinese Art Museum, Tokyo Art Museum, The Eighth International Painting Exhibition, American Philadelphia Country Club Gallery, Japan World’s Fair, and Vienna UN office. From 1993 to 1994, he awarded Lifetime Achievement Award and Notable Award successively in USA.
